Vitamin A May Protect Ears

Like zinc, vitamin A is found in high concentrations in the cochlea.
All special sensory receptor cells, including the retina of the eye and the hair cells of the inner ear, depend upon vitamin A and zinc to function properly. In one study, low blood levels of vitamin A were associated with decreased ability to hear. Several studies show, from 24 to 74 percent of people with tinnitus reported at least partial relief with vitamin A supplements. Beta-Carotene has been recommended by the doctors, which you can take without worrying about toxicity. (The body can use beta-carotene to make vitamin A.)
